| Period: 2009 This Egidius programme deals with Orlando’s works written in his so-called wild years and during his first years in Munich. The brilliant compositions by the young buck bubble with savoir vivre, full of bold harmonic experiments, using many languages and pulling out all the stops from deep emotion to common fun. The programme is larded with quotes from Orlando’s letters. |

| Haydn - Lassus | ||
| Joseph Haydn,1732-1809:Die Sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze (Hob XX/2) with Responsoria by Orlando di Lasso, 1532-1594 | ||
| Period: from September 2009 In this programme, performed by the Utrecht String Quartet and the Egidius Kwartet, the sermon and intervals are replaced by the 1580 responses for Holy Week by Orlando di Lasso, which were probably sung by the choir of Cadiz cathedral until well into the 19th century. Thus, Haydn’s desire for reflection has been given a new interpretation. |

| Charles V's journey through France | ||
| Charles V and François I were related, but even so fought each other all their lives. Both gentlemen used not only military force but also art as an instrument of status with which to steal a march on each other. The Egidius Kwartet has created a programme showing the direct, fascinating confrontation between French frivolity and Dutch respectability. The famous Italian lutenist Alberto da Ripa, at that time working at the French court, plays a rather impartial role here. In his diaries, Charles’ secretary Jan Vandenesse described many details about the people present. Amusing and evocative fragments from these reports will be read during the concert to provide couleur locale. |

| Programme centred around the composer Dietrich Buxtehude | ||

| Buxtehude and Pietism. Buxtehude wrote hundreds of ‘Cantatas’ using a wide variety of texts: biblical texts in German or Latin, hymns and chorales, texts written for special services in the Lutheran church. The mood of these cantatas is devout and pious, but thanks to Buxtehude’s genius, never tedious or dreary. | ||

| Made in Brabant | ||
| Fertile soil for music | ||
| In the programme ‘Made in Brabant’, early and contemporary music are carefreely juxtaposed, thereby reflecting the polychrome palette of music in Brabant. Musical icons such as Obrecht, Clemens non Papa and Gombert are flanked by compositions by young, highly talented composers from Brabant such as Mayke Nas and Bruno Nelissen. | ||
